Gujarat Four Wheel Drive

Dance is a custom which has defined every culture across the world with a distinctive flavor. People begin to thumb just by hearing the name of a local form of their regional dances. But there are few dance customs that has embarked its esteem position above all. "Raas" or better known as "Dandiya" to the world is a Gujarati dance form that has cherished livelihood of countless people in and outside India. Origin of this dance dates back to the time of Lord Krishna, when he performed the foreplay of Holi along with his "Gopis" (female friends) in Vrindavan. Now blended with Garba, Dandiya is the emphasized move of Navratri nights.

Dandiya Raas is performed to honor Goddess Durga. It is a false pretence of battle between the Goddess and Mahishasura - the relentless evil king. The sticks of the move depict the sword of Durga. The women enact this dance in an effortless and cadenced way as they pivot around the 'mandvi'. It is generally performed after the aarti (custom of venerating the deity). The standout amidst these peppy moves is the vivid outfit worn by the dancers and the decorated sticks used by them. The women wear customary dresses, for example, bright weaved choli, ghagra and bandhani dupattas sparkling with mirror work and substantial adornments, meanwhile men look extremely alluring in their conventional vivid kedias.

Dandiya Raas in Navratri is a hypnotizing thing to look and also to take an interest in. So, if you want an opportunity to take part in dandiya and you are on a tour of India, do indulge in this activity with us; pick up the dandia sticks and sport a smile on your face, because sometime you may enjoy the experience and realize that there's more to daniya than this write-up tells you.
